Girl’s Weekend Away

I know I know, I have a whole whack load of posts to catch up on, I’ll get there eventually! 🙂

This past weekend I went on a spur of the moment weekend away with my cousin and a couple of her friends. The roadtrip started at 3pm on Friday afternoon, and we headed off to Wilderness via Worcester (quite a detour). We compensated for the extra mileage by stopping at Merwida Wines for some tasting and to stock up on bubbly for the weekend.

We got to Wilderness around 9pm that evening, had pizza and wine and turned in for the night relatively early.

On Saturday we headed through to George itself to spend some time at the market there. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as pleasant as we would have liked it to be so we left after an hour or so.

The rest of the weekend was spent chatting over food and wine and admiring the gorgeous views. We shared a bottle of bubbles on the beach as a birthday celebratory drink 🙂 We went to a gorgeous little Italian restaurant called Pomodoro for dinner and had an absolute blast! I think the young waiter was quite excited to overhear some of our colorful conversation and actually asked us out for drinks after… amazing what comes up in conversation between 4 women and a few bottles of wine haha! Needless to say, we all slept in reasonably late on Sunday morning!

One of the things I love most about this piece of paradise is that the birds are quite tame, and come to the house in the morning and evening for some grated cheese. I spent most of Sunday morning coaxing the birds to eat out of my hand. The juvenile birds are a lot more trusting and come to you quite easily.

It was a very much needed relaxing weekend away, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to go again.
