Say it in a post card

So these postcard things have been doing the rounds for quite some time and a lot of them are amusing, I already had an ode to wine here, and I have a few more to add…

Sadly no wine for me this weekend as we all need to be up before sparrow’s fart tomorrow morning for the Discovery Big Walk, where we will be walking 25km from Fish Hoek to Greenpoint Stadium. I have no idea what I was thinking when I agreed to do this, but do it I must and I have bottle in the fridge waiting for me when I get home. I think I should probably try and find a wheelchair for after too as I probably won’t be able to walk…..  Will keep you updated along the way I suppose…

I had quite a good weekend with Aurora – Friday evening was a quiet night in with some pizza and movies.

Saturday morning I had to take her to town for a casting at 10am, which she was more than happy to do. I was happy I hadn’t wasted a trip because the last 2 castings we went to she’s refused to get in front of the camera. I asked her on Friday if she wanted to go and she said yes, but I also let the agent know that if she didn’t want to be in front of the camera I wouldn’t push her, and I would let the photographer know not to push her too. So, now we wait to see if she gets the job 🙂

I had arranged to look at an apartment in Vredehoek at 14h00 in the afternoon, and decided that while we were in town we may as well make the best of it. We headed through to Mouille Point and had a lovely little picnic – Aurora loves the huge jungle gym there – I have to say it is pretty awesome! I thought the weather was going to be a bit miserable on Saturday but it actually turned out to be a gorgeous day! There is a little train that goes around the closed off picnic and party area – it’s all very green and very pretty!

It was a gorgeous afternoon spent with little miss 🙂

The flat I went to see was small – in comparison to what I have now. It’s old and doesn’t have a private closed off garden which means, I can’t take my dogs with me. I’m having a huge internal battle about moving – I need to move to be closer to Aurora’s new school next year, but nothing in my price range can accommodate my animals. They are part of my family and the thought of not having them with me breaks my heart. My beautiful friend has offered to look after my dogs for me if it comes to it, and I’m eternally grateful for having someone as special as her in my life. I’m going to keep looking (viewing a place in Tamboerskloof on Wednesday), but I’m not 100% committed to making the move. I suppose if the right place comes along I’ll jump on it, but right now I’m just not feeling it… :/

On Sunday with the weather all typically Cape Town (windy, overcast, cold) I decided to quickly shoot out to the Milnerton Flea Market for a bit of a browse. Now I’ve been looking for a white-washed headboard for Aurora’s room for quite some time but just haven’t had the few hundred bucks spare to actually buy one. I’ve pretty much finished her room (in pinks and purples) and the headboard has been the last item on the list for a while already. So you can imagine how excited I was to find a headboard – white-washed and all, for R100!!!  I told the guy I’d be right back with cash and raced off to draw more money! He was surprised when i actually came back (shame I’m sure these guys get the “I’ll come back” all the time!) I finished off with a very pretty pink and purple dream catcher that Aurora absolutely loves. So now her room is done. Next, will be mine! 🙂

Ok enough blabbing for this Monday morning! I hope you all have a fabulous week! 🙂

The Weekend Past

Busy bees

Wow what a jam packed weekend! I do enjoy having Aurora with me because she really is a social butterfly and likes to be out all weekend. We had dinner with my cousins and aunt and uncle on Friday evening, which is always fun as they are really such great people.

Saturday morning started out with Aurora’s classmates 4th birthday party at Spur, which was chaos to say the least. But in all a fun few hours and the cake was really cute (birthday girl’s Gran’s first attempt at making a theme cake)

The party was immediately followed by lunch at Panarotti’s in Cape Gate with @cupcakemummy and @thestilletomum and all the kids. It was fun making the pizza but all the kids wanted to eat them and weren’t happy that they had to be taken away and Put In the oven to actually cook…

On Sunday a Braai we were invited to was canceled as my friend’s man was down with flu, so I picked her and her son Charlie-Hawk up to head through to Grand West for some ice skating and games. It was a fun afternoon out

Aurora and I decided that we still wanted to Braai, so we did and it was delicious! Nothing better than a steak on the fire and a glass of red wine (Umfiki Merlot) to end what was definitely a most enjoyable weekend.
